The GBS Story
Global Broadband Solutions, LLC (GBS) was founded in 1998 as a veteran-owned small business, with a focus on advanced technology communications services, providing consumers of domestic and international broadband telecommunications services with tailored global network solutions.
Today, GBS provides its customers with expertise in telecommunications network planning, designing, engineering, integration and testing, end-to-end network management, project management, market pricing studies, and business case analysis. GBS has a proven track record in its design and implementation of high-speed data networks over terrestrial, submarine fiber optics cables, satellite, and microwave systems.

OUR ROOTS: The Global Fiber Initiative
GBS began operations in 1998 as part of a US Government initiative to achieve global superiority through advanced information technology when the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) created the Global Fiber Initiative (GFI) to demonstrate a fiber optic network’s ability to deliver mission-critical information to support US deployed operations anywhere in the world.
Operating as the System Integrator for the GFI, GBS implemented the first demonstration of a totally fiber-based transmission system between the United States and the Middle East (ME).
The GFI project also marked the first time in communications history that advanced broadband telecommunications services were successfully established between the United States and the ME completely over optical fiber.
Since the successful GFI project, GBS has provided its clients with innovative terrestrial, submarine fiber optic cable systems (SFOC), and wireless-satellite based solutions.

GBS has successfully supported the development of major SFOC projects in the western pacific, the Caribbean, Alaska and has also provided IT consulting services to companies doing business in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Asia, and the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans.
