Corporate Communications Specialist

The Corporate Communications Specialist (CCS) is a part-time, remote position with a HUBZONE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT.

We are seeking a creative and energetic individual who enjoys designing, developing, and producing impactful print and digital content. The ideal candidate has an eye for innovation, quality, and detail, with fresh ideas to help promote GBS’ array of products and services. The CCS will work with the Corporate Communications Director to understand project needs and requirements and be self-directed to work on tasks remotely.

Help create digital and print media for posting online, short promo videos, GBS “merch,” and infographics for reports. Contribute your creative ideas to GBS designs! Work remotely on a flexible schedule.

This role offers room for growth and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with an engaging team of dedicated engineers, subsea subject matter experts, and business development professionals while supporting telecom R&D and GBS’ delivery of telecommunications projects in regions around the world.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Director of Corporate Communications to develop/update engaging materials promoting GBS products and services, both print and on-line, for diverse audiences across government, science, technology, and telecommunications industries.
• Collaborate on the GBS content creation strategy, aligning media with corporate goals and business development opportunities.
• Help update GBS brochures with designs and content that are eye-catching and memorable.
• Create promo spots/marketing ads, branded social graphics and other media for GBS promotional channels (i.e., LinkedIn).
• Help design promotional items, media, and collaterals for trade shows/exhibits.
• Create, modify, and review branded project and presentation designs.
• Help produce content-marketing videos, interviewing executives for informational spots.
• Create visually appealing Infographics, figures, tables, and other visuals to optimize the impact of information in GBS reports, presentations, and ads. Collaborate directly with proposal writers and communications team to develop media requirements.
• Reformat and resize digital and print files to multiple dimensions and file formats to fit project or production requirements.
• Support the creation of GBS branded “merch.”
• Help update the GBS websites as needed.

Desired Competencies

• Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Rush, Premiere Pro, After Effects) for video and print.
• Familiarity with design principles, layout, typography, video editing/production.
• Understand social media posting to get results.
• Innovative, creative ideas; like to do market research in order to problem solve and create relevant solutions to advertising and communications needs.
• Able to quickly adapt to industry-specific terminology for creating ad copy.
• Excellent attention to detail and possesses strong organizational skills.
• An active problem solver, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small to meet project milestones and tight deadlines.
• Comfortable multi-tasker. Stays on track with project deadlines.
• Able to be in contact during business hours.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Friendly, able to stay in close communication with colleagues who are working remotely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or pursuing degree) in communications, graphic design, advertising, marketing, or related field.
• Proficiency in Abode Creative Suite.
• Proven content creation experience; able to share a portfolio/examples of video/print/design.
• Video production and/or editing experience.
• Social media and/or advertising experience.
• Pass background check and substance screening.
• Proof of US Citizenship Required /E-Verify Participation/EEO

Preferred, but not required –

• Knowledge of Submarine Fiber Optic Cable industry and/or interest in STEM or engineering.
• Proficient use of WordPress/website design.
